The editor

Reference

A pointer in instructions to a tool, system tool, playbook or workflow by name, inserted with /, so the prompt names the resource itself rather than a string that might drift.

Also asked as:

  • mention a tool inside my prompt so the agent uses it
  • link a playbook from the instructions
  • point the assistant at a specific workflow by name

Missing reference

The warning shown when a referenced resource is no longer available to the agent — usually because it was deleted, or is not present in this environment.

Also asked as:

  • a tool in my prompt shows a warning that it’s gone
  • instructions point at something that no longer exists
  • the reference chip turned red
  • the tool I referenced in my instructions shows as missing
